It’s the finishing touches that made all the difference on these latest units!

Bulk Lines Ltd are a specialist bulk transport operator running local and linehaul units from Whangarei down to Christchurch with a focus on servicing the agriculture sector with stock feed, fertiliser and aggregate.

With a fleet of over 90 vehicles and six depots across New Zealand, Bulk Lines General Manager Nevin Dwyer, says ”We are committed to investing in new gear to maximise efficiencies, reduce maintenance costs and ensure we maintain a state of the art and modern fleet of vehicles for our staff and customers.”

Looking to add some extra 58 tonne rated 9 axle bulk tipper units for linehaul trips to and from their Central North Island and South Island depots, Bulk Lines purchased five new FM540 Volvo trucks to be built with Domett alloy bins and five axle tipper trailers. “We have always enjoyed working with Domett and appreciate the importance they place on both building and keeping our relationship alive. They contact us regularly to discuss current and future design options and we have always found them great at providing ongoing progress and update reports throughout the build process. Our main depot is just round the corner from their Tauranga based factory also, so having quick and accessible access to their drive-in, drive-out repair and service centre is an added bonus too!”

Nevin says, “Dating back to the early 2000s, Bulk Lines and Domett have always maintained a strong working relationship with approximately 50% of our fleet having either a Domett bin or  trailer associated with them. We have always appreciated their high attention to detail with regards to design and engineering capabilities, use of state of the art technology and the focus they place on low tare weights without compromising on structural integrity. In recent years Domett have invested in a new finishing and paint plant which has meant their overall finishing has stepped up another gear again and we feel this has continued to improve year-on-year.

This commitment to best practice finishing and ongoing development of some of the smaller design features and finishing touches are a real stand out for us and have ensured these new units arrived with everything we need. A few examples of these clever design features include recessed, yet accessible broom and shovel holders, a special Ringfeder mud flap cover to avoid coupling blockages when tipping off and hydraulic hose blanks for storage for when not in use. These are just a few examples of the ‘can-do attitude’ we have come to expect from Domett over the past 20 odd years and something we feel makes all the difference.”

“I have no hesitation in recommending any other transport operators looking for a truck trailer manufacturer who places a huge emphasis on relationships, premium design and engineering coupled with market leading finishing and final touches.”
